IEEE
has multiple strengths that will help it move successfully towards the
future.
One of the strengths is its abundant corps of dedicated and high
caliber
volunteers. A second strength is the powerful brand, which rests
significantly
on the high quality of its products and services and the dedicated work
of over
200,000 volunteers. A third strength is a large and diverse membership
base
with a broad and growing worldwide reach.
Continued
progress towards IEEE’s vision of engineering the future for the
well-being of
its members, the profession and humanity, will require efforts in a
number of
key areas. Staff and volunteers will need to work together across the
IEEE to
achieve these goals. If I am elected, my primary focus will be to lead
IEEE
into 2020 by nurturing the organization’s strengths and addressing its
key
challenges through a process of effective governance and participative
decision-making. I will rely on my experienced leadership skills to
achieve
results in the following areas:
Promote
cooperation across IEEE units and with industry to guarantee leadership
in new technologies. Increase
activity in the
development
of educational and training tools to ensure we are prepared to function
in new
multidisciplinary environments.
Focus
on practicing engineers by working
with industry leaders to identify and launch new IEEE products and
services
that benefit their employees. Support initiatives to develop economical
continuing education products including those tailored to particular
corporations and geographical areas.
